Originally a club for lady bowlers, the Gold Lawn Bowls Club was started in 1965 with Mrs J Palmer the foundation President.
The Gold Coast Lawn Bowls Club was officially opened on November 23 1966 by the President of the Queensland Ladies Bowling Association, Mrs Mary Rose.
In 1993 the Gold Coast Lawn Bowls Club became a joint ladies and men’s club with Mr Ted Tyron the first men’s president.
In 2010 the Gold Coast Lawn Bowls Club became an associate club of the Burleigh Heads RLFC Group (The Bears Group) with all the resources and benefits of The Bears Group including membership to all Bears clubs, discounts for members, earn points from gaming*, and ongoing games, raffles and promotions.
2011 has seen the opening of Gilligan’s Bistro with delicious meals at fantastic prices.
2011 also saw a change in name from Gold Coast Lawn Bowls Club to Gold Coast Bowls & Community Club to reflect the true heart of the club.
